What ESOL means at Yorkshire College
ESOL — English for Speakers of Other Languages — is for people building a life that happens in English: starting college, finding work, handling appointments, helping children with school. Classes run from beginner to advanced, and you join at the level our free placement test shows.
For students aged 16–19
Our youngest students learn in classes tailored to their age, interests and next steps. Students this age are supported by our named safeguarding lead and welfare team. See our information for parents.
For adult learners
Adult ESOL classes focus on the English of real life in the UK: workplaces, services, communities and conversation.
